Outreach activities at local schools and colleges

FracRisk PhD student Megan O’Donnell ran a Society of Exploration Geophysics Outreach afternoon to teach schoolchildren (average age 13) in Edinburgh about seismicity in December 2017.    The experiments, which comprised “hydraulically” fracturing jelly with ketchup sauce, taught simple wave theory and material properties, the basics of seismology and the societal impact of earthquakes.
